Frozen Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri (shown in a hurricane glass)
3 oz of Strawberry purée* (strawberries, a squeeze of lemon juice and fine sugar - blended)
3 oz Lime juice
1/2 oz Simple syrup*(2:1 sugar to water ratio, brought to the boil in a saucepan stirring continuously until sugar is dissolved)
1 cup of ice (crushed)
1 Strawberry or lime wheel to garnish
*Note: You can make large quantities of this and keep it in an air-tight container for up to a few days, so as to reproduce the drink with ease later or in a larger quantities.
What to do -- Two ways:
Way #1 - Frozen
Blend all the ingredients together in a blender (except for the garnish of course) until smooth and then pour into any glass of your choice (preferably what bartenders and mixologists know as a hurricane glass, but you might know them as "piña colada glasses") and finish by garnishing the rim of the glass with a strawberry or lime wheel.
Way #2 - On the rocks
First get yourself a glass (preferably a Margarita glass) and fill it halfway with ice cubes and set aside. In your cocktail shaker, fill halfway with ice cubes or crushed ice and add the purée, syrup and lime juice. Shake vigorously for 5-10 seconds and strain over your prepared glass. Garnish the rim of the glass with a strawberry or lime wheel.
You can also coat the rim of the glass with sugar, by first coating the rim with lemon juice and then rolling the rim in superfine sugar.
Enjoy my little mini mixologists !
