Artistic Chills in København

Image
In case you can't tell from my Danish homage to Copenhagen, I thought it would be cool to write Copenhagen in Danish. So that happened. It's that word at the end of the title that starts with a K. It's okay, I don't know how to pronounce it either, but I know it means Copenhagen. I'm glad we cleared that up, this was good moment for us I think. And we learnt something new, so that's nice. This post will be a little different from my usual, run of the mill travel posts that I've been plaguing this blog with for the past months. Mostly because we did things differently in Copenhagen, and did less of the touristy things. Now, we probably should get out of the habit of sleeping until 11am...That's something we have not done since we were 15 and something we should abolish from our daily routine. However, on the plus side, we've become rad night owls, so there's something. We were living in a sweet apartment with some awesome roommates, the majo...

Berlin - Part I: Modern and Urban

Image
There's always two sides to everything, right ? Berlin can be the same. This city is not for everyone, but it has a special soul, and even if this sounds cliché, it has a hidden story around every corner. So I thought it would interesting to divide up two very different sides of Berlin:  The urban and the new, and the old and preserved. © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais © Margot Alais Friends Kippah... Under a Grey Pisan Sky

Image
Our Italian chapter is coming to an end, the real Winter is fast approaching and Switzerland awaits us. It's weird because the postcards that are sold in nearly every city in the world always show blue skies and sunny days, but there is something really bittersweet and calming about grey weather. The smell of the dewy freshness in the morning, the glossy street pavements and tiny droplets on our windows...It all sounds good to me. Pisa was a really special place to visit once again. It brings back memories of my childhood and growing up there,  it makes me feel overly sentimental in a "Rachel McAdams cries in the rain in the Notebook" kind of way. I weaved my way through the streets to my old apartment, found my old schools and went to my favourite park, but in all honestly, the best part was feeling like I was 8 years old again.  On the days when the flu caught up to us, we stayed in, blankets draped on our knees with hot tea in our hands. I cooked dinner most n...

Norge - Part II: Hiking and Attempting the Almost Impossible

Image
I just want to stress that I am terrified of heights, and as serene as the scenery may look, don't be fooled, getting to the top and hiking the whole trail is much harder than you may think. If you've done it, you know what I mean ! Also, the weather was lovely, the sun was shining and the sky was blue, but don't be tricked into thinking the weather was warm...It was very cold, especially the further you travel in altitude. It was a glacial area, there is snow on the mountains around us that never melt due to the weather. The mountains themselves are bare, no trees or shrubs, the climate up there is too rough for any vegetation (this becomes more evident as we climb higher and higher). The start of our hike. And we're off ! © Copyright Margot Alais The grass on the roof of the hut keeps it warm and insulated © Copyright Margot A lais A glacial lake and a mountainous backdrop © Copyright Margot Alais I wasn't kidding about the snow © Copyright M...
